Schoenergie – Batteriespeicher Föhren

Starting point
For Schoenergie, Föhren was a flagship and research project: a grid-forming, black-start-capable battery right at the substation, built to prove in real operation that the energy transition and grid stability go hand in hand. The battery is the real-world lab for the SUREVIVE research project with Westnetz, Fraunhofer ISE and the University of Stuttgart. Its inauguration in October 2025 drew guests from state politics, research and the energy industry.

Idea
The films had to make that ambition visible, from the delivery of the containers to the finished park.
A battery storage system doesn’t move. So the people who built it tell the story, and the aerial shots show how big the whole thing is.

Trade-fair film storage
The trade-fair film shows how Schoenergie plans and builds battery storage. You see the delivery and installation of the storage containers, the teams on site and the finished storage park from above. On-screen keywords such as “Alles aus einer Hand” (everything from one source), “Eigene Expertenteams” (our own expert teams) and “Professionelle Baustellen” (professional construction sites) guide you through the film. It ends with an invitation: “Starten Sie jetzt Ihr Projekt mit uns” (start your project with us now).

Before the shoot I had followed the entire construction of the battery storage. It was really exciting to be part of such a pioneering project and to show that there are optimistic stories about the future in the region.
